Burgess Shale Trip A group from Friday Harbor Labs traveled to Yoho National Park in British Columbia, Canada in July 2003. Our goal: a 20+ mile hike to the Burgess Shale, home to fossils about 520 million years old, noted for its spectacular preservation and the presence of ancient representatives of many modern phyla.
