WHY MBREF?
Students often need to get into the literature
of a particular specialty, but face the problem of finding the
"good stuff." This happens when first learning about
a particular area (e.g., ecology of mangroves), or when the need
arises to write a term paper. Computer searches may help, but
often the very best papers and comprehensive reviews fail to show
up in such a search or are hidden among many others of dubious
value. MBREF will give you the chance to see the choice of references
of experts. Each subject includes summary papers, classic papers,
and recent contributions. Some lists have been assembled specifically
for MBREF while others are the result of a variety of progam projects
that have led to web-accessible bibliographies. In a few cases,
controversies have been selected and papers reflecting several
points of view have been selected. Keep visiting this page, as
you will see more and more as the months progress.
