Discussion Led by Professor Massimo Pigliucci

Dr. Pigliucci is Professor in the Department of Ecology & Evolution at Stony Brook University.He is a well known evolutionary biologist but also has an interest in epistemology and philosophy of science. He received his Doctorate in Genetics at the University of Ferrara in Italy, his PhD in Botany from the University of Connecticut, and a PhD in Philosophy of Science at the University of Tennessee. He has published over 70 technical papers, three books on evolutionary biology and two books for the general public: Tales of the Rational: Skeptical Essays about Nature and Science (Freethought Press, 2000), and Denying Evolution: Creationism, Scientism, and the Nature of Science (Sinauer, 2002). Dr. Pigliucci has won the Dobzhansky Prize from the Society for the Study of Evolution, and served as its Executive Vice President.
