From July 8-21, 2003 I had the opportunity to attend the first Stickleback Molecular Genetics Course offered at Stanford University. This course, organized by David Kingsley and Will Talbot, brought together researchers with very different backgrounds from all over North America and Europe. Participants shared interests in evolution, developmental biology, and of course the threespine stickleback, Gasterosteus aculeatus. The pictures are mostly from two field trips. The first was to collect stickleback from the Salinas River and visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium and the second was to collect fossil stickleback from a deposit located at Fernley, Nevada. Ok you sticklegeeks, enjoy.
