As a neutral model for gene expression evolution, we study the relationship between sequence change and change in expression of short, intergenic transcripts.
Example: Strong binding sites in the middle of large intergenic stretches are associated with with higher nearby intergenic expression levels than weak binding sites.
We will experimentally validate the effect of strong and weak binding sites on intergenic transcript production.
