Diversions

Jason O'Rawe
Jason is a masters student in the Ecology and Evolution department at Stony Brook University.  He likes studying both ecological and evolutionary principals and aspires to contribute to our understanding of the natural world.  Jason is interested in understanding how/if gene duplication in plants can contribute in shaping ecological forces that in turn drive evolutionary changes.   He is also interested in understanding to a greater extent the forces that govern plant invasions.  Are properties of invaded systems to a greater extent responsible for invasion dynamics, or is it that the characteristics of the invading species are more responsible for invasion dynamics?  Or are both differentially contributing under different conditions and/or circumstances?  How can we better use species invasions to answer more general and fundamental questions about ecology?
