How to Setup Campus Wireless Connection
- First, send an email to TelNeT@notes.cc.sunysb.edu
from your notes account to ask for a campus wireless access setup instruction. Be sure to indicate your SBU ID# and full name.
By doing this, they will create an account in their database for your wireless access.
- Aftre a while, they will send you an email like this,

- Using the wireless connection of your laptop to connect to 'AirNet'. This picture shows the connectibility on 6th floor.

- If successfully connected to 'AirNet', open a web browser to point to http://www.vpn.sunysb.edu and download the VPN software 'sbuwcv.exe'.
If you have difficulties to download, you can also download this VPN software from life.bio
- Now, bring your laptop to 2nd floor of ECC building to pickup your access ID and password.
Be sure to bring your valid ID (SBU ID card) with you. The pickup hour:
10am - 11am or 2pm - 3pm, Monday, Wednesday and Fridays
9am - 10am or 3pm - 4pm, Tuesdays and Thursday
- At 2nd floor of ECC buidling, use the Silver wall phone to dial 2-8568 (There is a paper note near the phone), someone will answer you and bring you a paper in a short while.
Actually, they do nothing on your laptop, but the instruction indicates that you have bring it with you.
- With your access ID and password on hand, you may start installing the VPN software 'sbuwcv.exe'. The installation is quite straightforward.
Note: the password is difficult to remember and cannot be changed, but you may check 'save password' box at VPN login window.
- Congratulations! Now, you can access the wireless network on campus.
- If you have received ID and password, and have difficulties in installing VPN software or/and setting up VPN connections, please let Fumio know.
Important notes:
* If you are using MAC, be sure to setup VPN using PPTP protocol,
and input '10.255.252.2' as VPN server address.
* If you get authentication error when logging in VPN network,
please make sure you have connected AirNET first.
